Paddle for the People Terms & Conditions

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Event: Paddle for the People
Date: August 23, 2025 at 11:30 am
Location: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 82, 35 Front Street North, Port Credit
Note: This is a charity fundraiser for the Lakeshore Corridor Community Team (LCCTeam) and will take place rain or shine.

​1. Participation & Eligibility
1.1. All participants must be at least 18 years old and able-bodied to operate a pedal boat continuously for a 3–10 minute race.
1.2. Each team must designate one Emergency Contact and provide full contact details at registration.
1.3. Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must sign the Event Waiver on the minor’s behalf before participation on the day of the event.
1.4. LCCTeam will supply all participants with properly fitted life jackets and paddle boats at no additional cost.

2. Assumption of Risk & Waiver of Liability
2.1. By registering, each Participant acknowledges that pedal boating on river water entails risks, including capsizing, collision, slips, falls, and other hazards.
2.2. Participants assume full responsibility for any personal injury, property damage, or loss sustained during the event.
2.3. The LCCTeam, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 82, their Directors, officers, participants, paid service providers (e.g., St. John Ambulance), and donors shall not be liable for any damages, losses, or injuries arising from participation.
2.4. Participants agree to wear a properly fitted life jacket at all times on the water.

3. Health & Safety Requirements
3.1. All Participants must complete a brief safety orientation and sign an Event Waiver before participating.
3.2. Any Participant who appears impaired by alcohol, drugs, or fatigue may be removed from the event by safety personnel.
3.3. St. John Ambulance will provide first aid support; serious incidents will be referred to local emergency services. A certified lifeguard provided by Canada Swims will be on duty during the racing event.

4. Refund Policy
4.1. All event fees are processed through CanadaHelps.org and are subject to its refund policy:
  • Refunds are granted only for unintended duplicate donations or erroneous donation amounts.
  • CanadaHelps will notify the LCCTeam at least one week before processing a refund.
  • LCCTeam may review and question any refund before approval.
  • Refunded donations are marked as “VOIDED TRANS” in the Donation Summary
4.2. No refunds will be issued for weather-related cancellations or Participant no-shows.

5. Code of Conduct
5.1. Participants shall respect fellow participants, event staff, volunteers, and property.
5.2. Abusive language, vandalism, or non-compliance with safety instructions may result in disqualification without refund.

6. Media Release
6.1. Participants consent to photography, video, and audio recordings by LCCTeam for promotional and educational purposes.
6.2. Images and recordings may be used on websites, social media, and marketing materials without compensation.
6.3. Participants may request the removal of specific images by contacting [email protected].
7. Governing Law
This Event Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada.
By completing registration, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.

Location: Credit River, starting at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 82 river banks, Port Credit, Ontario
